Hazards Identified:

Risk Assessment:

  • Evaluate the severity and likelihood of each identified hazard.

  • Determine risk levels and prioritize control measures.

 

Control Measures:

1. Ensure all personnel involved in all tasks are trained and competent.

2. Conduct a thorough site inspection to identify and remove any hazardous materials before any work begins.

3. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety goggles, gloves, and hearing protection.

4. Erect physical barriers and exclusion zones to prevent unauthorized access to the site.

5. Implement fall prevention measures, such as guardrails, safety nets, or personal fall arrest systems, for work at heights.

6. Use mechanical methods (e.g., machinery, explosives) where feasible to minimize manual handling and exposure to hazards.

7. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.

8. Establish communication procedures, including signals and alarms, to alert workers of potential dangers and emergencies.

9. Provide adequate ventilation and respiratory protection when working in enclosed or dusty areas.

10. Have a designated first aid kit and trained personnel available on-site at all times.

11. Develop an emergency response plan, including evacuation procedures and emergency contact information.

 

Safe Work Procedures:

1. Secure necessary permits and approvals before commencing work.

2. Conduct a briefing to review the SWMS, assign tasks, and address any concerns.

3. Clear the work area of debris, equipment, and personnel who are not involved with the work.

4. Disconnect utilities (water, gas, electricity) and ensure the site is free from live services.

5. Monitor work progress regularly and adjust methods as needed to maintain safety.

6. Dispose of all waste and hazardous materials in accordance with local regulations.

7. Conduct post-inspections to ensure the site is clear of hazards and safe for re-entry.

 

Training Requirements:

  • All personnel involved in any construction work must receive appropriate training in techniques, hazard identification, and emergency procedures.

 

Supervision and Communication:

  • A designated supervisor will oversee the work and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

  • Regular communication will be maintained among workers, supervisors, and management to address safety concerns and monitor progress.

 

Review and Monitoring:

  • The SWMS will be reviewed and updated as necessary to reflect changes in job tasks, site conditions, or safety regulations.

  • Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance with the SWMS and identify areas for improvement.
